Project Description
The Top Red Roof Residence is a completed one-storey residential development located in Cheptais, within the Mt. Elgon region of Bungoma County. Cadreatech Professionals were engaged to deliver full structural and civil engineering services, from detailed design through construction supervision, ensuring the project achieved high standards of safety, durability, and functionality.
The house is designed as a reinforced concrete framed structure, accommodating all standard residential functions including living areas, bedrooms, kitchen spaces, sanitary facilities, and internal circulation zones. A key architectural and structural highlight of the project is the curved reinforced concrete staircase, which serves as both a functional vertical circulation element and a defining architectural feature. The staircase required careful structural analysis, reinforcement detailing, and formwork coordination to achieve the desired curvature while maintaining structural integrity and constructability.
The upper floor incorporates balcony and circulation spaces designed to enhance natural ventilation, daylight access, and outdoor usability. The building is capped with a lightweight roofing system selected to meet the client’s aesthetic preferences while reducing overall structural loads and improving construction efficiency.
Due to the project’s location in a rural and highland setting within the Mt. Elgon–Bungoma region, the engineering design was adapted to local conditions. Special consideration was given to limited access to construction materials, rural construction practices, and site-specific soil and terrain characteristics. The structural solutions emphasized material efficiency, practical detailing, and buildability using locally available skills and resources, without compromising safety or performance.
Outcome
Cadreatech Professionals successfully delivered a safe, durable, and well-coordinated one-storey residential building tailored to its rural context. The curved reinforced concrete staircase was executed to a high technical standard, demonstrating advanced structural detailing and effective site supervision.
The project benefited from cost-effective structural solutions, clear and buildable construction documentation, and consistent on-site supervision to verify correct reinforcement placement, formwork accuracy, and concrete quality. Despite logistical and resource challenges associated with the remote location, the project was completed smoothly and in compliance with applicable engineering standards. Final structural certification was issued upon completion, confirming the building’s safety, durability, and readiness for occupation.
One-Storey Residential House Architectural Render – Kenya
This image is an architectural render showing the proposed design of a luxury one-storey residential house. The design features a pitched roof system, prominent verandah supported by reinforced concrete columns, generous glazing, and a contemporary façade. The render communicates architectural intent, spatial composition, and external finishes prior to construction, supporting coordination between architectural, structural, and civil engineering disciplines.
One-Storey Residential House As-Built – Kenya
This image shows the as-built condition of a completed one-storey residential house in Kenya. The photograph captures the final architectural outcome, including the red tiled pitched roof, reinforced concrete verandah columns, masonry wall construction, perimeter fence, and landscaped surroundings. The as-built photo demonstrates successful translation of architectural and structural design into construction, confirming compliance with approved drawings, material specifications, and workmanship standards.
