Project Description
Cadreatech Engineering Consultants was appointed to provide comprehensive engineering design and construction supervision services for a reinforced concrete swimming pool in Kinoo, Kiambu County. The project formed part of a high-end residential development and required a technically robust, durable, and leak-free swimming pool solution that met both functional and aesthetic requirements.
The swimming pool structure was designed as a fully reinforced concrete system, comprising reinforced concrete walls and a monolithic reinforced concrete base slab. Structural design was carried out in accordance with British standards, Eurocodes and Kenyan building codes relevant to swimming pool design guidelines, ensuring adequate resistance to hydrostatic water pressure, lateral soil loads, and long-term serviceability requirements. Detailed reinforcement layouts were prepared to control cracking, ensure durability, and maintain structural integrity throughout the pool’s lifespan.
Cadreatech’s mechanical and plumbing engineering team designed a fully integrated pool circulation and filtration system. The hydraulic design included main drains, skimmers, suction and return lines, inlets and outlets, and carefully planned pipe routing to minimize head losses and improve energy efficiency. Provisions were also made for pump systems, filtration equipment, pressure regulation, flow balancing, and underwater lighting conduits, ensuring compatibility with modern pool operation systems.
High-quality PVC pressure pipes compliant with ISO standards were specified and installed with proper anchorage, spacing, and embedment to prevent displacement during concrete works. The waterproofing strategy addressed both internal and external water tightness, incorporating appropriate construction joint detailing, concrete quality control, and waterproofing treatments to eliminate leakage risks.
Throughout construction, Cadreatech provided close site supervision, overseeing reinforcement fixing, plumbing installation, formwork accuracy, waterproofing application, and concrete placement. Particular emphasis was placed on base slab integrity, pipe penetrations, structural anchorage, and surface finishing to achieve a durable, leak-proof, and visually appealing swimming pool.
Outcome
The completed swimming pool achieved a high level of structural stability, reliable water tightness, and efficient circulation performance. The integrated engineering approach resulted in a durable, low-maintenance swimming pool with a clean architectural finish suitable for premium residential use. The project demonstrates Cadreatech Professionals’ expertise in swimming pool structural engineering, hydraulic design, waterproofing, and construction supervision for residential developments in Kenya.
